I have a friend who owns a small retail business and when she decides to have a sale on some of the items that I normally purchase from her, she PERSONALLY calls me to let me know so that I can take advantage of this sale.  She also calls and now EMAILS me when "HOT" new items arrive in her store that she knows I would be interested in.  What a great friend!
